ABOUT
My Story
IT STARTED WITH
The MAGICAL SOUND OF 80's HOME COMPUTERS, AND THE TWISTS AND TURNS OF LIFE.
Music has been a constant thread running through a large part of my life. In the early 1990s, I started composing music for games and graphical demos on the MSX system. Through mutual friends, I came into contact with the founders of Engine Software, who were also active in the MSX scene at the time. In 1992, I created my first soundtrack for a non-commercial game project.
Although I wasn’t consciously pursuing a career in the game industry at that point, music remained a constant presence in my life. I went on to study computer science, and after graduating in 1999, everything came together: I joined Engine Software as an in-house composer, a role I held for more than twelve years.
From 2006 onwards, I also began working as an independent composer. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to create music for a wide variety of games and multimedia projects, working with clients such as Atari, Disney, Vicarious Visions, 1st Playable Productions, Engine Software and Playlogic. One particularly memorable moment was Games in Concert in 2007, where my music for the game Stateshift was performed live by the Metropole Orkest and the Pa’dam Choir.
Over the years, my work gradually expanded beyond games. I began creating music and soundscapes for film, multimedia projects and meditation. In 2016, I released Equilibrium, followed by Radix in 2017.
After that, my focus shifted for a while towards other work and my personal life. Music never disappeared during those years, but the way I engaged with it changed. There was less emphasis on composing to commission, and more room to create music for the sheer enjoyment of it, out of curiosity, and from a simple question: what do I enjoy creating, and what do I want to share with the people around me?
This led to a number of compositions over the past few years that, until now, have remained largely unseen by the outside world. The Source is one of them. At the same time, I continued to work professionally as a composer, including returning to game music in 2023 with Pickleball Smash for 1st Playable Productions.
Now, there is once again more space to bring my music out into the world, and I am incredibly excited about that. I am planning to bring together a number of compositions I have worked on over the past few years into an album, to be released in 2027.
There is also more room again for new commissions. I still find it incredibly rewarding to translate an idea, story, image or feeling into music. That could be for a game, film or company, but it could just as easily be for a personal moment such as an announcement, farewell, gathering or celebration.
Do you have an idea that you feel could benefit from music, but you’re not quite sure what that might look or sound like yet? Feel free to get in touch. I’d be happy to think it through with you.
